Your Say

Friday, March 28, 2008

Other than a tiny cut on the tongue,
yesterday’s visit to the dentist went rather smoothly.

For the first time in a longggg time, I was early for my appointment.
I waited quietly outside the clinic, reading forbes.

Whenever the queue number beeps, my heart would start racing.

Finally, it was my turn.
My legs started to turn jelly as I was nearing the consultation room.

After giving the usual greetings,
the first formal question that came outta the dentist’s mouth was:
U’re aware that u needa do 2 fillings today right?

I replied with a nod.
Subsequently, I responded to all his further questions
by either a nod or by shaking my head.
(too frightened to say anything.)

He then told me to lie down.

Before I could do that, I quickly blurted out:
Is it gonna be painful?
Do I need to get jabbed?
Can don’t jab?

(At this point, I was already at the verge of tears.)

He gave me a warm smile while explaining that the jab is only necessary
if the pain gets unbearable.

And sooo, he started with all that drilling.

I was doing pretty fine till his drilling kinda hit my nerve.
That was when I jerked and got my tongue cut.

He quickly stopped the entire procedure and comforted me.

Subsequently, when he continued with the procedure,
it was with loads of caution and warmth.

Throughout the entire session, he was like:
Is this ok?
Are you in pain?
Relax ok ... relax...
... ...

Sucha darling.

Now, I know who to look for when I next visit NDC for fillings.
(Certainly, no need to go back for such painful procedure would be best though. )
